Glenmorangie Signet Reserve

Glenmorangie’s beloved Signet – the richly roasty favourite made using the distillery’s oldest, rarest stocks – has been taken to the next level, with this ultra-limited edition getting a drool-inducing extra 12-month finish in sticky, decadent PX Sherry casks.

United Kingdom

Colour Burnt umber

Nose Dark chocolate sponge cake and intense espresso coffee with hints of hazelnut cream and orange zest

Palate Chocolate truffles, treacle and Turkish coffee dominate, toasted cinnamon emerges with orange oil and a touch of raspberry, coming together with a lengthy and creamy finish of tiramisu

Overview

“The most intensely flavoured Glenmorangie I’ve ever made,” Dr Bill Lumsden, Glenmorangie’s Director of Whisky Creation.

Only 400 bottles are landing on Aussie shores for this Club-exclusive debut. Glenmorangie’s oldest and rarest stocks go into their beloved annual Signet release, and now Dr Bill Lumsden’s picked the best of this already-limited liquid and given it some extra special treatment to create something even rarer. Members, meet Glenmorangie Signet Reserve.

That extra special treatment is a drool-inducing extra 12-month finish in sticky, decadent PX Sherry casks, meaning the richly roasty, delicious Signet we all know and love (hands up who else bought it as their first ever ‘fancy’ whisky) has been given even more fruitiness, sweetness and coffee-ness than ever before.

The Reserve has been crowned World’s Best Scotch Highlands Single Malt at the latest World Whiskies Awards, even up against massive releases like Old Pulteney 25 Year Old and Glengoyne 30 Year Old (worth $1,760).

As Dr Bill says “…By ageing Glenmorangie Signet further in Pedro Ximénez sherry casks, we are taking that whisky’s hallmark style even deeper into deliciousness. With its notes of chocolate truffles, toffee, fudge, and tiramisu, Signet Reserve offers layers of luxurious decadence.”

He’s not wrong. Glenmorangie dedicate only one week in every year to make Signet, which requires heavily toasted barley. Bottles of the Signet Reserve are even fewer and further between. Get yours on Friday 5 December – and don’t forget to save a dram or two for New Year’s Eve.

Glenmorangie's History

Glenmorangie Distillery sits on the banks of the scenic Dornoch Firth just outside the township of Tain in Ross-shire, northern Scotland. It seems the residents of Tain were a thirsty bunch, they’ve been said to have been brewing beverages in the area since the Middle Ages.
