Beyoncé Knowles-Carter and Moët Hennessy Launch New Whisky

Pop superstar Beyoncé has teamed up our good friend Dr Bill Lumsden and Moët Hennessy to create a new whisky brand, SirDavis.

"I've always been drawn to the power and confidence I feel when drinking quality whisky and wanted to invite more people to experience that feeling," says SirDavis Founder Beyoncé.

"When I discovered that my great-grandfather had been a moonshine man, it felt like my love for whisky was fated. SirDavis is a way for me to pay homage to him, uniting us through a new shared legacy.”

SirDavis is named in honour of Davis Hogue, Beyoncé paternal grandfather — a farmer and a moonshiner in the American South during Prohibition who stashed whisky bottles in the empty knots of cedar trees for friends to enjoy.

Beyoncé, a Japanese whisky lover, sought out Moët Hennessy to help craft the new whisky, and it’s been a long time in the making.

Moët Hennessy recruited Whisky Hall of Famer Dr. Bill Lumsden, Director of Whisky Creation at Glenmorangie and Ardbeg, to lead the creation of the whisky.

"With SirDavis, we looked to challenge the category norms and offer something new in the space," said Lumsden. "The distinctive grain selection and unusual secondary maturation in sherry casks helped us achieve a signature profile completely unique to SirDavis, one of bold sophistication," he says.

Bottled at 44% ABV, SirDavis is made from a mash bill of 51% rye and 49% malted barley.

The whisky has already been awarded Platinum and was named Best In Class by the 2023 SIP Awards, 95 points and Gold from the 2023 New York International Spirits Competition, and 93 points from the 2023 Ultimate Spirits Challenge.

The Whisky Club and Dr Bill Lumsden have an ongoing partnership. And together with Glenmorangie, we have released the Glenmorangie French XO Calvados Cask, available exclusively to the Club. Other releases include Glenmorangie Amontillado Sherry Cask — Glenmorangie’s first-ever collaboration on a single malt, Glenmorangie The Cadboll Estate 15 Year Old and the Glenmorangie 12 YO Malaga Cask.
