The Whisky Club wins three gold medals at the International Wine and Spirits Competition

Whiskymakers love flexing when creating whiskies for Members and the experts have agreed.

The Glendronach 2013 Oloroso, and the Loch Loch Lomond 2010 Vintage Sauternes Cask, both created exclusively for The Whisky Club, as well as The Lakes: The Chocolatier Limited Edition were each awarded 95 points and received a Gold Medal.

Founded in 1969, the International Wine and Spirits Competition is the world’s largest and most influential spirits awards. 

Judged by a panel of industry experts, including Richard Paterson OBE is Master Blender at Whyte & Mackay AKA “the nose,” the IWSC tastes, scores, recognises and crowns the world's best drinks and receives tens of thousands of entries from more than 90 countries. 

"We're looking for harmony and tranquillity in gold medal winners,” Richard Paterson OBE says.

”What I mean by that, everything has to be working together. The spirit has to have the body, the character, and it has to show not just the individual nuances and flavours, it has to be working in harmony. This standard pushes producers to ensure every element of their spirit works in perfect concert."

The accolade follows 2025’s major win at the IWSC’s top 50, when The Whisky Club was named as one of the top whisky and spirits producers in the world and outranked any other whisky club or retailer.

“Vibrant aromas of mint and coriander mingle with crisp gooseberries and white grapes, leading to a lively palate of sweet spearmint, ripe pear, and juicy peach. The spicy finish is perfectly balanced and fascinatingly complex.”

“A rich, inviting aroma of creme caramel and soaked raisins leads to a buttery, creamy texture bursting with tangy orange and apricot. The long, delicate finish reveals smoky sherry notes and a sweet, candied banana bread finish. Inspiring.”

“Enticing aromas of apple strudel, cinnamon doughnuts, and marmalade on toast. The palate unfurls with juicy peach, caramelized apple, and warm cinnamon. It concludes with a rounded finish, where sultanas, sourdough, and a squeeze of orange zest mingle seamlessly.”
