Whisky Club Airlines Is Off To The USA… And Scotland!
The last couple of months have been huge for Whisky Club Airlines, sending lucky Club Members off on trips of a lifetime, with tours of GlenDronach, BenRiach and Glenglassaugh, as well as Tobermory and Bunnahabhain Distilleries. But the good news is we’re just warming up, and this month we’ve had to employ more pilots because we’ve got not one but two trips up for grabs!
Destination 1: Westward Whiskey, Portland, Oregon, USA
Portland isn’t your usual American city, in fact its unofficial slogan is “Keep Portland Weird”, a sure sign that you’re in for a good time and an experience different to what you might expect from America. It’s home to a huge culture of craft beer and distilleries, and Portland’s Distillery Row is a big tourist drawcard to the city. One of the anchors of Distillery Row is Westward Distillery. Founded in 2004, it’s grown to become one of the biggest names in American Single Malt Whiskey, and has picked up the Double Gold medal at the San Francisco World Sports Competition, a 93 point/excellent rating at the Ultimate Spirits Challenge, and topped Wall Street Journal’s list of Singular Single Malts Born in the USA.
Westward’s new distillery
Westward entered the Australian market in December 2018 – we’re the first country outside of the States to get it – and now they’ve created something special just for the Club, with the Westward Oregon Pinot Noir Cask Single Malt Whiskey, Created Exclusively for The Whisky Club coming your way this September.

The whiskey is coming your way, but are you headed Portland’s way? This is certain to be an amazing trip, and you’ve gotta be in it to win it, so make sure to get your entry in between September 6-13.
Here’s what’s in store for the lucky winner of the Westward trip
First prize is a trip for two to Portland, including:
- Two return economy tickets to Portland, Oregon from a major Australian airport (Hobart, Melbourne, Adelaide, Perth, Brisbane, Sydney, Canberra) as well as transfers
- Five nights twin share accommodation
- Guided tour of Westward Whiskey distillery, a local Portland Food & Craft Brewery Tour and a visit to Oregon Wine Country
Destination 2: Bladnoch Distillery, Scottish Lowlands
As if sending someone to the USA wasn’t enough, we’ve got another flight to Scotland, with a trip to the only Australian owned Scotch distillery up for the taking. Aussie entrepreneur and yoga fan David Prior sold up his yoghurt empire in 2014 and soon after purchased the then mothballed Bladnoch Distillery, teaming up with whisky legend Ian Mcmillan to resurrect and modernise the distillery.
Bladnoch Distillery
You can read more about the story here and here, but what you’ll find when you get there is an amazing old distillery, the southernmost in Scotland, that’s dodged more than a few bullets in its time and is now home to a state-of-the-art facility, producing its own unique style of whisky.
