And while it’s easy for all this to sound like romantic nostalgic nonsense, it means nothing if the whiskies aren’t great, and good grief, are they great.\u003c\/p\u003e\u003cp\u003eEven the prolific and often curmudgeonly whisky reviewer Serge at Whiskyfun goes straight to five stars when talking about American oak-matured Benromach single casks of this age:\u003c\/p\u003e\u003cp\u003e\u003cem\u003e“We love Benromach in ex-Bourbon… hugely impressive, one of my favourite malts – I mean this style of 20-year-old ex-bourbon Benromach in general.”\u003c\/em\u003e\u003c\/p\u003e\u003cp\u003eWith a core trio of age statement whiskies that’ve won so many consecutive Double Golds at the San Francisco World Spirits Competition they’ve gone Platinum, it’s no wonder that their vintages are blowing away whisky reviewers the world-over.\u003c\/p\u003e\u003cp\u003eWe’ve snaffled a 20 year old, first-fill ex-Bourbon single cask that yeilded only 205 bottles, exclusively for Club Members at a pantingly good 57.4% ABV.\u003c\/p\u003e\u003cp\u003eThis is the brother cask to what are widely considered Benromach’s best, so obviously no chill filtration, no added colour.
