When re-opened, the distillery began to lay down Octave casks for maturation.\u003c\/p\u003e\u003cp\u003eAn Octaves Cask is approximately 1\/8th the size of a traditional whisky butt and is one of the smallest casks used in the Scotch Whisky industry for maturation. These casks allows for greater and faster interaction between the wood and the spirit, strengthening the whisky’s depth of flavour and aroma in a shorter period of time.\u003c\/p\u003e\u003cp\u003eMaster Blender Dr. Rachel Barrie has worked with a select number of Octave casks to create unique expressions that embody the lush, tropical and coastal style of Glenglassaugh. The Classic and Peated Octaves expressions in Batch 2 are composed of hand-selected Octaves, made to size from a range of Bourbon, Pedro Ximénez, Oloroso, Amontillado Sherry and Port casks.
