meikle-toir-turbo
Meikle Tòir The Turbo Peated

So how do you make the Most Peated Whisky Ever? As the scarcest whiskymaking in Speyside, the answer lies in Meikle Tòir’s tiny, handful-of-casks-a-year Turbo release.

We’re so excited for this one so forgive us as we get slightly technical. After a lengthy 160-hour ferment, Meikle Tòir amplify the already intensely smoky spirit by keeping only the ‘heart of the heart’ cut of the distillate - the part with the highest phenol content - for maturation.

Five years in virgin American oak and Oloroso Sherry (five barrels, four hogsheads) has proved the sweet spot. Because this is when Meikle Tòir test the PPM ('parts per million', aka the peat levels). Not when the grain’s smoked before it’s even sniffed the stills – but right at the very end of its whisky journey. Makes sense, right? It’s not for nothing that these whiskymakers won World’s Best Single Malt last year.

This latest annual release of Meikle Tòir Turbo is the most smoky to date at 72 PPM. Finally bottled at 50% ABV with no chill filtration, it still kicks nicely and maintains the stunning oiliness that Meikle Tòir fans already know and crave.

This is in short supply, direct from Scotland for Club Members.

Not a Member of The Whisky Club?
