Overview
Setting themselves apart from other distilleries once again, Dalmore are using some of their finest Sherry casks in this one-off, vintage release.
Matured in Matusalem and PX Sherry casks – Matusalem’s a slightly sweetened, solera-aged Oloroso – and pulled from a single 2005 vintage, this bottling boasts a stew of salted caramel, dark chocolate, blood orange, moist ginger cake and a hint of marzipan. In other words, it’s classic, banging Dalmore with a big Sherry twist.
Where were you in 2005 when these casks were being laid down in the distillery’s bond stores? Over the years, Dalmore’s vintage stock has ripened till it’s finally worthy of release as a special edition; only the finest have been selected, and the result is spectacular.
‘The best of the best,’ as Dalmore’s Master Whisky Maker Gregg Glass proudly states. ‘[This] is a true highlight of working on The Dalmore.’
Bottled at 18 years old, without a lick of added colour or chill filtration, the Matusalem Sherry’s velvetiness is perfectly intact. Dalmore Vintage 2005 may have debuted in the UK for £375 ($780 AUD) but we’re bringing this vintage to Members for just $450.

The Dalmore's History
Located in Alness, just north of Inverness on the shores of Cromarty Firth in the Scottish Highlands, The Dalmore Distillery has been crafting whisky since 1839 when it was founded by well-to-do businessman Alexander Matheson. Matheson was a partner in Jardine, Matheson & Co, a Hong Kong headquartered firm that at the time was trading in smuggled opium, tea, and cotton. As the Jardine empire was well on its way to massive success (it’s now one of the 300 largest public companies in the world), Matheson let others do the hard work and leased Dalmore out to a number of families, sadly with little success.
