Arguably Australia’s leading craft whisky producer, Starward Distillery started off in an airport hangar in Essendon Fields. It didn’t take long for their superb whisky to garner a massive cult following—and for good reason, it’s delicious. Starward has since relocated centrally to Bertie Street (it was meant to be!) in Port Melbourne, and on a good day, the distillery churns out 1000 litres of spirit (that’s 2000 bottles of whisky).
Tucked inside a former warehouse, there’s a buzzing and energetic atmosphere—and despite the upsize, Starward still has a homely vibe.
As far as the drams go, there’s a huge focus on flavour—and not taking yourself too seriously. So Members, sip your dram neat or enjoy it in a cocktail. And if you’re peckish, you can pair your whisky with offerings from cheese and charcuterie to spag bol and pizza.
