The Whisky Club has been named as one of the top whisky and spirits producers in the world in the International Wine & Spirit Competition’s recently announced top 50.

The Club is in the top 15 whiskymaking specialist in the world and outranks any other whisky club or retailer.

Let that sink in.

Surrounded by multi-nationals and the most famous names in spirits, whiskies made for the 38,000 Members of The Whisky Club have been named the world’s best.

Decided from 2,309 distilleries and producers, The Whisky Club was ranked 31st in the world, only behind some of the biggest names in the world. They include William Grant & Sons (owners of The Glenfiddich, The Balvenie), The Glenmorangie Company (also own Ardbeg), Brown-Forman (Glendronach, Jack Daniel’s) and Diageo (Johnnie Walker, Lagavulin).

We are the top ranked member-based Whisky Club or retailer in the world and the top Australian-based producer. Almost everyone above us owns their own distillery, that means they reckon we’re the best whisky-pickers going around.

“This incredible recognition is thanks to one thing - the whiskies created for our Members,” says Club General Manager Seamus Carroll.

“We are not independent bottlers, instead we work directly with the whiskymakers to create whiskies we know our members love. As distillers and master blenders regularly tell us, it’s their chance to flex with freedom for never-to-be-repeated expressions that showcase their distilleries in their finest.”

Launched in 2025, the new initiative recognises the distilleries, producers and brands across the globe that consistently achieve outstanding results at the International Spirits Competition (IWSC) to shine a light on the producers who are “setting benchmarks for quality and shaping the future of drinks production worldwide”, according to the IWSC.

“The IWSC Top 50 Producers and Honor Roll make one thing clear: in a crowded global market, the real differentiator isn’t a single headline-grabbing vintage or a spirit expression voted “World’s Best”, but relentless, measurable quality over time,” says Forbes' Joseph V Micallef.

“…the producers who appear on these lists have proved they can deliver excellence across styles, categories, and seasons. For drinkers, the IWSC Top 50 and Honor Roll offer something equally valuable: a curated shortcut to bottles that have impressed some of the most demanding palates in the business, not just once, but again and again.”

How is the International Wine & Spirit Competition’s top 50 determined?

The recipients of the IWSC’s top 50 are determined from results and data from a three-year period and consider the full range of entries.

This year’s IWSC top 50 is decided from the 2309 distilleries and spirits brands from 115 countries that have entered the IWSC over the past three years.

Every entry is considered – from those that receive no medals to the highest accolades – to ensure consistency and quality.

“By combining detailed results data with IWSC’s trusted judging standards, the Top 50 provides an objective, transparent, and credible benchmark for identifying the most accomplished wine and spirit producers in the world,” says the IWSC.

Other Australian producers recognised were Four Pillars and The Gospel Distillery.

We’d like to congratulate our partners who all took out the top five.

William Grant & Sons, the biggest independent whisky company in Scotland, took out the first spot. William Grant & Sons is best known for The Glenfiddich and The Balvenie distilleries.

Others in the top-five include Chivas Brothers, home to Ballantine’s and The Glenlivet; Irish Distillers, whose portfolio includes Redbreast and Jameson; The Glenmorangie Company, home to Glenmorangie and Ardbeg; and Campari, best known for its iconic brand The Glen Grant.

And there's plenty of excitement about the accolade out in the whisky world. You can read about the Club's Top 50 ranking in Broadsheet, Food & Drinks Business, Drinks Trade,
