Overview
Lagavulin, the pinnacle of Islay malts, has done it again.
This limited-edition release explores first-fill Bourbon casks, a maturation regime hardly ever seen at Lagavulin (the beloved 16 Year Old is mostly matured in refill casks), and not one for collectors to miss. As a new take on its 12-year-old releases, the first-fill casks have boosted the distillery’s powerful peat into thick-toffeed territory while the smoke and spice swirl as bold as ever.
But that’s not the best part. Fireside Tales is cask strength Lagavulin, roaring in at 57.4% ABV. And you can bet it’s non-chill filtered and all natural in colour. Entirely suitable for sipping by an open fire or with sticky barbequed meats – how will you drink yours?

Lagavulin’s History
Illicit distillation was taking place on the site in the scenic Lagavulin Bay from the mid-1700s, but it was farmer John Johnston who legally founded Lagavulin in 1816. Located on the south coast of Islay (right between Laphroaig and Ardbeg distilleries and a short distance from Port Ellen), the distillery perfectly takes advantage of its coastal location, allowing the sea air to work its magic on the spirit as it rests in the barrels.
