Overview
20 years ago, Casey Overeem started a distillery. History has proven that it was a pretty good call.
And one cask type has come to define Overeem since then: Australian Tawny Port. If you’ve ever been lucky enough to try early Overeem, you know what we’re talking about. So when we wanted to work with Overeem for a one-off Club exclusive, we knew exactly what style we wanted, and boy oh boy, did they deliver.
Jane Overeem explains: “This might be the perfect expression of our love for South Australian Port casks – it’s classic Overeem Port Cask, but even richer, fuller and longer, thanks to the age and quality of the casks we used.”
The casks in question – a tiny parcel of 50+ year old ex-Barossa Valley Port casks – have imparted their decades of juiciness into Overeem’s multi-award-winning single malt to give us apricots, sticky dates, dark chocolate and dried cranberries. And that next-level colour is entirely natural, thanks to the strong cask influence.
What this small batch bottling does best, though, is champion our local booze industries through and through. Tasmanian single malt into South Australian casks for a full maturation, bottled at 700ml with no chill filtration at 49.8% ABV, and ready to be sent to wherever you are in Australia.
