Overview
This one-off batch ticks all the boxes in Japanese whisky excellence.
Crafted in the heart of Japan’s snow country, Yuza Distillery is a pristine stillhouse inspired by the best names in Scotch. Its stills were created in Scotland’s Speyside region, with the wash still fashioned in the design of Macallan’s and the spirit still created in the likeness of GlenDronach’s. Combined with the finesse and delicacy of Japanese distilling, Yuza is not one to sleep on – you know there’s good craftsmanship when a distillery’s first ever release managed to win a gold medal at San Francisco World Spirits Competition!
This particular whisky is marked by elegance, in a quintessentially Japanese-style maturation of prized Mizunara oak joined with Sherry and American oak. Served up at 46.0% ABV, non-chill filtered and without added colour, this special blended offering is pumping with stewed rhubarb, Jersey caramel, apple turnover and rounded with spice from the Mizunara oak.
At a time where Yuza whiskies aren’t currently available in the country for less than $345, don’t miss your only chance to grab a bottle with the Club for $190. Available exclusively to Members from July 4 as an Add In.

Yuza Distillery's History
Yuza Distillery is located in Yamagata Prefecture, along the Sea of Japan, at the foot of Mount Chōkai – also known locally as Shōnai Fuji. The region is known for its harsh winters with snow depths reaching up to 30 metres, and hot summers where temperatures can climb to 35°C. These seasonal extremes create a dynamic maturation environment for whisky.
Established in 2018 by Kinryu Co Ltd – a company with decades of experience in sake and shōchū production – Yuza Distillery was built with a focus on small-scale, high-quality whisky production. Fermentation takes place in five 6,000-litre washbacks made from Canadian Douglas Fir. The team imported custom pot stills from Forsyths in Speyside, Scotland. The wash still was modelled after those used by Macallan, while the spirit still was inspired by Glendronach, combining traditional Scotch design with Japanese distilling precision.
The spirit is then matured in dunnage-style warehouses, a traditional method that maintains a stable environment for cask ageing. Yuza Distillery adheres to the official standards for Japanese whisky production.
The distillery released its first single malt in 2022. Its coastal location, climate, and production methods make it one of the notable emerging distilleries in Japan’s growing whisky scene.
