Buy todayEvery month, our warehouse team keeps aside a few bottles that don’t quite make the cut: some may have minor label scuffs or are missing their canisters, others are in pristine condition but were missed or returned, but all are perfectly sealed, perfectly stored, absolute A-grade whisky.
As such, returns are not available for damaged or missing labels and boxes.
September at the Club is all about Golden Promise barley, and no distillery has a longer or richer connection to it than The Macallan.
Since being introduced in the late 1960s, this historic grain has been a key secret ingredient in Macallan’s success, with 100% Golden Promise Macallans now fetching tens of thousands of dollars on the secondary market. Even after it became too expensive to use 100% Golden Promise for their spirit, it still made up 25% of the mash bill for decades, adding richness, oiliness and depth like no other grain.
For September, we’ve sourced a small parcel of the storied The Macallan Classic Cut single malt for Members to Add In alongside September’s Whisky of the Month: Benromach’s 100% Golden Promise Barley Edition, as a way of showing two distilleries at the top of the game when it comes to quality of spirit and craft. Members paid only $175 for their bottle of Classic Cut – a juicy $55 less than you’ll find it on shelves.
This incomparable Member Perk was only available to Club Members as a companion to September’s Benromach Golden Promise Barley Edition.
Nestled on a bend of the River Spey, The Macallan distillery has been crafting legendary Scotch since established by Alexander Reid in 1824 at Easter Elchies Estate. What began as a modest farm distillery has flourished into a benchmark for luxury single malt. From the early days, before whisky became a global spirit phenomenon, Macallan distinguished itself through steadfast devotion to quality over quantity.
One of The Macallan’s hallmarks is its dedication to Sherry-seasoned oak casks for whisky maturation. Drawing from European and American oak Sherry casks, its spirit gains rich notes of dried fruit, spice, and toasted oak – a profile that has become virtually synonymous with the brand. Even when others turned to Bourbon casks, Macallan held firm until 2004 before embracing a multi-cask strategy in its Fine and Triple Cask Matured ranges.
Cult status in the 20th century set the stage for The Macallan’s ascent. Its age-statement whiskies –especially the revered Macallan 18 Year Old, 25 Year Old, 30 Year Old, and 40 Year Old – became symbols of refinement. Rare releases like the Fine & Rare series attracted collectors, while auction results broke records, cementing Macallan’s reputation among enthusiasts and investors.
In 2018, The Macallan unveiled a striking modern distillery designed by Rogers Stirk Harbour + Partners. Blending seamlessly into the landscape and inspired by the contours of the Speyside hills, the new facility expanded production capacity with 12 wash and 24 spirit stills yet retained the small still design critical to Macallan’s signature full-bodied spirit .
Today, The Macallan sits atop the luxury whisky world. Whether it’s the approachable Double Cask 12 Year Old or ultra-rare expressions from the Fine & Rare and Anecdotes of Ages collections, every bottle tells a story of Speyside heritage, oak mastery, and meticulous craftsmanship. It’s whisky that celebrates place – and in every sip, the legacy of River Spey, quality casks, and over two centuries of dedication lives on.

The oldest ever 100% Islay barley Bruichladdich batch is coming, and Members of the Club get it before anyone else in the world. “This is Bruichladdich at its absolute peak.” Unpeated, 14 years old, made entirely using the rare remnants of 2011’s vintage stocks.
