The judges at one of the world’s most prestigious spirits competitions have spoken: our Morris Tokay Barrel is an absolute winner. But we already knew that. And all the Members who got a bottle and absolutely loved it knew that, too.

We got some amazing news over the weekend— our Morris Tokay Barrel picked up a highly coveted Double Gold at the 2022 San Francisco World Spirits Competition.

For the past two decades, the San Francisco World Spirits Competition (SFWSC) has been dubbed ‘The Oscars of booze,’ and we’re super chuffed at our Morris Tokay Barrel’s red carpet moment.

The SFWSC is one of the longest-running liquor competitions in the world. Held in April over two weeks every year, the SFWSC unites a panel of 70 experts across the globe with the deliciously arduous task of deciding which spirits are the best in the world. Tough gig.

This year, the competition received approximately 5000 spirits. And one of them was our Morris Tokay Barrel.

Only the third release from Australia’s rising powerhouse, Morris Distillery, our Tokay Barrell has exploded into the whisky world in a huge way.

It’s a dream run for the rising Aussie superstars. Our Morris Tokay Barrel is only the third release from the distillery,

The distillery’s two other releases picked up gold medals, too. But our Morris Tokay Barrel was the absolute showstopper.

In an almost unheard-of debut, our Morris Tokay Barrel exploded into the whisky-sphere taking out a Double Gold at the prestigious competition, sharing top spot with an elite line-up of whisky titans including the Ardbeg 25 YO, Benriach The Thirty and Glen Scotia 25 YO.

Morris Tokay Barrel 47.8% ABV, $135.00

The malt that signalled a new era for Aussie whisky. Only the third release from the Aussie distillery, this is sure to be a collector’s item in years to come.

Ardbeg 25 YO 46% ABV, $2299.00

The newest and oldest Ardbeg to join the core range, you’ll be hard-pressed to find a bottle of this beauty due to its age and rarity.

Benriach The Thirty 46% ABV, $1000.00

An exceptionally rare whisky made using peated spirit and matured in four different cask types of sherry, this is the Speyside distillery in full force.

Glen Scotia 25 YO  48.8% ABV, $2,900.00

Last year this marvellous took out Best in Show at the SFWSC — that means it’s no less than the best whisky in the world. Since then, it’s become rarer than hen’s teeth.

This is only the beginning for the Aussie distillery, and we’re getting our whisky crystal ball out and predicting that our Morris Tokay Barrel made exclusively for the Club will become a collector’s item in years to come.

At $135 a bottle, this is ridiculously good value compared to the Morris Tokay Barrel’s peers. If you can, get yourself another bottle while you still can.
