Entire Whisky Distillery Shipped to China

Last week an entire distillery was shipped from Scotland to China

More than 35 tonnes of equipment, from flooring and pipework to control valves and stills, was shipped out from Buckie in Moray and sent to the port of Tianjian.

The equipment will be used to build Mongolia’s first whisky distillery — from the ground up.

The impressive feat is part of a deal between Scottish firm Valentine International and China’s Mengtai Group.

Scottish suppliers of distillation equipment, Forsyths, built the equipment and will also send over a team of engineers to supervise the assembly of the distillery — worth around £3 million.

The Mengtai Group plan to create a “globally award-winning whisky.” The distillery hoped to produce its first batch of malt whisky by the end of last year. But COVID’s halted those plans, and the first batch is slated to be done by the end of this year.

So, who wants to put in an order for their very own distillery and what would you call it?
