The Glen Grant Achieves Distillery Record
It’s been a big year for the Glen Grant. In May this year, we released the first-ever exclusive bottling in the distillery’s 180-year history, and now they’ve achieved a distillery record.
The Visionary, a rare 68-year-old whisky has gone under the hammer for an eye-watering £212,500 (AUD $405,375.00) at auction.
Matured in a single Sherry cask number 835 and filled in 1955, The Visionary doubled original estimates and set a new world record for the highest price ever paid for a Glen Grant whisky.
This news comes on the heels of last week's landmark auction in partnership with Sotheby's, in which The Devotion 70-Year-Old was sold for £81,250 (AUD $155,081.00). The proceeds from both sales will go to The Distillers' Charity.
”We’re proud to have partnered with The Glen Grant earlier in the year to bring casks together for the first-ever exclusive creation in the distillery’s 180-year history. These incredible auction figures show how the distillery appeals to whisky fans and collectors alike,” says The Whisky Club’s Head of Whisky, Seamus Carroll.
Master Distiller Dennis Malcolm, one of the longest-serving distillers in Scotland, hand-selected casks of vintages from 2008 & 2009 to create the Club’s exclusive Glen Grant.
We’ve rustled up the last remaining bottles from the Club’s vaults to raise a dram to the distillery on this knock-out achievement. If you want to get your hands on a bottle, head to your account now. And if you’re not a Member yet, join Australia’s biggest whisky community free.
