Overview
The 16-year-old The Dalmore Luminary No. 2 is the second in their outstanding series, coming two years after the inaugural Luminary release.
An immediate success globally, No. 1 sold out in Australia on the same day of its release, and is no longer available internationally except on the secondary market where it can be found for well over double its original price.
For this new expression, Dalmore have once again partnered with Scotland’s design museum V&A Dundee to create a groundbreaking cask curation. And there’s no one who does this better than Dalmore, renown for being the legends of cask curation in Scotland. This collaboration has seen Dalmore’s Master Whiskymaker Gregg Glass working with Melodie Leung, associate director at Zaha Hadid Architect, to unlock a new flavour dimension previously unseen at The Dalmore.
On top of an already intricate maturation with American white oak ex-bourbon barrels, Graham’s Tawny Port pipes and 30-year-old Apostoles (blend of Palo Cortado & Pedro Ximénez) Sherry casks, the Luminary No. 2 also introduces an exceptionally rare inclusion of peated Dalmore, adding a whisper of sweet woodsmoke amongst the layers of fresh roasted chestnuts, mānuka honey and forest fruits.
The layered complexity this Highland whisky house is renowned for is apparent throughout this naturally copper coloured single malt, presented at 48.6% ABV with non-chill filtration.

The Dalmore's History
Located in Alness, just north of Inverness on the shores of Cromarty Firth in the Scottish Highlands, The Dalmore Distillery has been crafting whisky since 1839 when it was founded by well-to-do businessman Alexander Matheson. Matheson was a partner in Jardine, Matheson & Co, a Hong Kong headquartered firm that at the time was trading in smuggled opium, tea, and cotton. As the Jardine empire was well on its way to massive success (it’s now one of the 300 largest public companies in the world), Matheson let others do the hard work and leased Dalmore out to a number of families, sadly with little success.
