This is the ultimate advent calendar: an unparalleled collection of 24 x 30ml drams of hand-picked whiskies created especially for Australia’s biggest whisky community. This year’s calendar includes Scotch whiskies 30 YO+, and malts from other whisky powerhouse regions like Ireland, Japan and Australia.

Overview

The Whisky Club’s Advent Calendars are an annual institution. They’re hugely sought after for a jolly good reason: they’re an incredible selection of the globe’s finest. And this year’s collection might be our best yet. 

Featuring whiskies from every region in Scotland and some incredible whiskies from other powerhouse regions like Ireland, Japan and Australia, this is the ultimate calendar for the whisky lover in your life. Or you, of course.

While we won’t ruin the surprise, we can tell you you’re in for Scotch whiskies 30 years and older, including an exclusive single cask and a 32YO rarity, 21+ YOs including a 24 YO malt from Scotland’s most-wanted region, a few peaty malts, and a legendary Islay matured in rare Hungarian Tokaji casks. There’s also some diverse and unique surprises from Ireland, Japan, Australia, NZ, the US and Canada.

DAY 24 (CLICK TO EXPAND)

Blended Scotch Whisky — 32 Year Old

  • Age: 32 years old
  • ABV: 40.0%
  • Cask type: Marriage of casks into a single barrelt
  • Region: Various, Scotland
  • Nose: An almost rum-like quality leads with heavy depths of sweet, estery oak and mellow malt. Pancakes with toasty maple syrup open the way for creamy apricot, and rice pudding with a crispy burnt top. Buttered malt loaf and Custard Creams appear – there's so much to explore!
  • Palate: Gloriously generous layers of delicate peach and apricot, tangy apple sauce, and buttery custard tarts. It's so soft, with mellow spice kept firmly in check beneath vanilla tablet and creamy barley.
  • Finish: A tropical touch of guava creeps in, alongside crumbly fudge, yet more vanilla, burnt sugar, and toasted malt. Things remain silky smooth as the gloriously sweet, mouthcoating malt and mellow oak char fade slowly into the distance.

  • Cask type: Bourbon & Oloroso Marriage
  • Region: Speyside, Scotland
  • Nose: Fruity, and malty, soft plums, honey, and a little pepper too.
  • Palate: Dried fruit notes; apricot, papaya, and coconut, alongside creamy vanilla.
  • Finish: Some light spices with custard pastry to finish.

Lochlea Harvest Edition Second Crop

  • Age: No age statement
  • ABV: 46.0%
  • Cask type: Tawny and Ruby port casks, First-fill American oak and STR barriques
  • Region: Lowlands, Scotland
  • Nose: Ripe red grapes, thick cut marmalade, dates, raspberries and white pepper.
  • Palate: Pink peppercorns, dried fruit, clove, grass cuttings and caramel.
  • Finish: JA lingering creaminess, carob chocolate and light berry notes.

King’s County Batch 1, 2 Year Old

  • Age: 2 years old
  • ABV: 61.9%
  • Cask type: Peated Bourbon
  • Region: New York, USA
  • Nose: Pretzels, burnt butterscotch, charred sweetcorn and toffee apples.
  • Palate: Salty, with notes of new leather, pretzels again, rubber, and salted caramel.
  • Finish: Peppery spices in the drying finish.

Blended Malt #6 Batch 2

  • Age: 24 years old
  • ABV: 48.8%
  • Cask type: Traditional Oak finished in Sherry
  • Region: Highlands and Campbeltown
  • Nose: Rich, smooth, cocoa, black cherries, hazelnut, subtle spice.
  • Palate: Nashi pear, grapes, apple pie with cinnamon crust.
  • Finish: Smooth citrus with raisins, plums and hazelnut.

Deanston Virgin Oak Cask Strength

  • Age: No age statement
  • ABV: 58.5%
  • Cask type: Virgin oak
  • Region: Highlands, Scotland
  • Nose: Intense robust flavours of wood spice, creamy custard and candied fruit.
  • Palate: Butterscotch, heather honey, crisp green apple and Deanston’s signature waxy character.
  • Finish: Warm spice with a twist of citrus and a hint of honey.

Dailuaine 16 Year Old Flora & Fauna

  • ABV: 43.0%
  • Cask type: Sherry Cask
  • Region: Speyside, Scotland
  • Nose: Sherry, Christmas cake, forest fruits, old oak barrels, with hints of orange sweetness.
  • Palate: A perfect orchestration of chocolate orange, berries and Christmas cake.
  • Finish: Long and spicy with layers of oak, dried fruits, sherry and a nutty warmth.

Westport 21 Year Old Blended Malt

  • Cask type: Refill Sherry Butt
  • Region: Highlands, Scotland
  • Nose: Spiced apple, beeswax, fresh orange juice, and a hint of mint chocolate.
  • Palate: Raisin toast, alongside mango, passionfruit, and pineapple.
  • Finish: Peaches in syrup, crème brûlée and white chocolate raspberry fudge.

Ledaig Batch 21 - 21 Year Old

  • Age: 21 years old
  • ABV: 58.2%
  • Cask type: Single Sherry Butt
  • Region: Islands, Scotland
  • Nose: Earthy peat join burnt pine, smoked cheese, and preserved lemons.
  • Palate: Jammy forest fruit, black tea, oily malt and tobacco.
  • Finish: Green and black peppercorns, touch of smoked chilli oil, and smouldering oak.

Wormtub 12 Year Old Single Cask

  • Age: 12 years old
  • ABV: 55.2%
  • Cask type: Oloroso Sherry
  • Region: Speyside, Scotland
  • Nose: Orange oil, stewed apples, fruitcake and coffee grounds.
  • Palate: Blackberry jam, dried fig, sticky butterscotch & cinnamon scroll.
  • Finish: Dark chocolate mousse and blueberry toffee fudge.

Mars Shinshu Maltage Cosmo Whisky

  • Cask type: American Oak, Possible Sherry influence (lightly peated)
  • Region: Japan & Scotland
  • Nose: Honey and caramel with subtle smoke and ripe fruit aroma.
  • Palate: Cornbread, blanched hazelnut toffee and raisins.
  • Finish: Mocha, apricots in syrup and juicy dates.

Canadian Corn Whisky

  • Cask type: 100% Oloroso cask matured
  • Region: Canada
  • Nose: Fruity muffins, buttery oak, raisins, prunes and drizzles of runny toffee.
  • Palate: Toffee ripple ice cream, wafer, toasted almonds and cooked peach.
  • Finish: Orange jubes, caramel popcorn with long lasting all spice.

Glenrothes 14 Year Old Oloroso Cask Finish

  • Age: 14 years old
  • ABV: 59.6%
  • Cask type: Oloroso octaves
  • Region: Speyside, Scotland
  • Nose: Freshly baked pastries, cooked apples, toasted hazelnuts, and plump, honeyed raisins.
  • Palate: Pastry notes carry through, with layers of buttery shortbread, flaky apple tart, and blanched almonds.
  • Finish: Sweet, biscuity barley, toasted nuts, and Madeira cake.

Irish Single Malt No.1, 15 Year Old

  • ABV: 46.0%
  • Cask type: Rum cask finish
  • Region: Ireland
  • Nose: Fresh peach, pear crumble and custard, and apricot jam, with a handful of fresh herbs.
  • Palate: Delicately creamy, with orange chocolate, cinnamon sugar, and zingy lemon curd.
  • Finish: More fresh stone fruit, plum skin, and toasted walnut.

Caol Ila Batch 23 — 14 Year Old

  • Age: 14 years old
  • ABV: 54.9%
  • Cask type: Refill hogshead into a first-fill Oloroso Sherry octave
  • Region: Islay, Scotland
  • Nose: Salted caramel and apple chutney. beach campfire smoke with a hint of charred bacon.
  • Palate: Salted roast almonds, hints of pineapple and ginger sponge cake.
  • Finish: Peppery spices, linger in the sweet ashy finish.

Seaweed & Aeons & Digging & Fire & Tokaji Cask 12YO

  • Nose: Toasted marshmallows, heather honey, coastal saltiness, sultanas and the burnt ends of a fruit cake.
  • Palate: Tinned peaches, smoky vanilla cream, salted caramel, and scorched toffee.
  • Finish: Cracked peppercorn, candied bacon, honeyed prunes, and tobacco.

  • ABV: 57.6%
  • Cask type: American Oak
  • Region: Lowlands, Scotland
  • Nose: Vanilla slice, melted butted, cinnamon and poached pear.
  • Palate: Lemon meringue, ripe pineapple, vanilla bean and demerara sugar.
  • Finish: Rolled oats, honey and nutmeg.

The Gospel Batch 1

  • Age: 3 years old
  • ABV: 58.6%
  • Cask type: Red wine cask
  • Region: Melbourne, Australia
  • Nose: Buttery dark rye bread, with hints of spice and light toffee, all with underlying cherry compote.
  • Palate: Rye bread with caramel vanilla, sweet allspice, clove, pepper and rich red fruit.
  • Finish: The finish is dry and lingering; Dried red fruit and crème caramel, with woody spices.

Pōkeno Discovery

  • ABV: 43%
  • Cask type: First-fill bourbon, Oloroso and Pedro Ximénez casks
  • Region: New Zealand
  • Nose: Cocoa nibs, dried figs, and cherries, with a touch of treacle and cinnamon.
  • Palate: Beautiful notes of dark chocolate, black forest gateau, ripe cherries and sweet citrus.
  • Finish: A rich, smooth and incredibly long finish.

Talisker Distiller's Edition

  • ABV: 45.8%
  • Cask type: Amoroso Sherry casks
  • Region: Islands, Scotland
  • Nose: Ocean air with rich smokier notes, sweet honeyed malt and sultana sweetness.
  • Palate: Rich fruit with a peppery and woody spiciness. Roasted fig and sweet date are backed by peat smoke and sea-salt.
  • Finish: Long, powerful and while still sweet, lingering peat smoke and cocoa nibs.

  • Nose: Orange blossom, golden syrup, ripe plum & cherries.

  • Nose: Distinctly fruity with pear drops and toffee sweetness, light notes of freshly cut hay.
  • Palate: Seville orange citrus notes, turning into peach and apricot, creamy fudge and vanilla.

  • Nose: Barrel char, smoky bacon, a little maple syrup, savoury malt, tobacco, and a hint of brown butter.
  • Palate: Toasted sugar and vanilla, spicy cassia and oak, honey roast peanuts, then more demerara sugar.
  • Finish: A long, smoky finish with a touch of ash, and barbeque sauce sweetness lingering.
