Producing whisky is relatively simple in theory. It requires only a few ingredients to make, but as we know, the end results can vary widely thanks to the subtle variations in wood, yeast and malted barley. The malting process of the barley can have a huge impact on the flavour of the whisky, particularly when peat comes into play.

Over the last few years, Tasmania has become known for its festivals, with the Falls Festival, Taste of Tasmania, Mona Foma and Dark Mofo all attracting huge crowds from near or far. But it’s Tas Whisky Week that really gets our heart racing here at Whisky Club HQ.

Scotland’s remote islands are well known for their beautiful, rugged and often unforgiving terrain, and terrible weather. They make some great whisky however, which undoubtedly makes the weather far more tolerable.

Beer will be the drink of choice at Friday knock-off drinks all around the world today, as the world celebrates International Beer Day. Of course, here at Whisky Club HQ, as much as we love beer (and we do) we love whisky even more.
