Victoria’s Rutherglen region is one of the oldest winemaking regions in Australia – some wineries were established in the 1850s. The town of Rutherglen, north of Wangaratta, west of Wodonga and just 10 kilometres from the Murray River and the NSW border, is home to just 2,000 residents. Yet this unassuming region produces some of the most renowned fortified wines on the globe.

A bottle of single malt whisky from The Macallan distillery is set to go for auction next month and it’s expected the bottle will fetch up to £1.2m (that’s around $2,303,818.16 AUD. *gulps*), according to auction house Sotheby's. 

There’s one cask type that single malt lovers can’t get enough of. If you guessed Sherry, you’re bang on. But there’s one type of Sherry in particular that whisky lovers regard as the crème de la crème.
 

Glenglassaugh Coalescence of the Coast aged 55 Years went under the hammer for a whopping £37,500 (AUD $72260.00) recently, a record price for the distillery.

It’s been a big year for the Glen Grant. In May this year, we released the first-ever exclusive bottling in the distillery’s 180-year history, and now they’ve achieved a distillery record. 

The whisky industry is changing, and so are whisky drinkers.
